Cash Crescent - helping you to develop your money skills
Overview
World Archipelago designed and built two online projects for learndirect, the highly acclaimed organisation that helps adults improve their literacy and numeracy skills. The websites, called Cash Crescent and Spellers, were two of the first major Flash projects in the UK to be accessible for keyboard-only users and users with screen readers.
We designed and built Cash Crescent, a fictional street with its cast of neighbourhood characters, and brought it to life through Flash animation and recorded voice overs. The user follows the characters as they try to solve some of the financial problems that adults face in real life: using a cash point, understanding store credit, home budgeting.
Spellers, a web site aimed at improving literacy, used the same concept of place and characters, this time through the use of a fictional department store staffed by employees who are each able to help out on a different area of adult spelling and literacy.
